WARWICK firm staff hot-footing it to raise thousands for charity

FIVE hundred degrees celsius...that’s exactly how hot a pit of burning coals were when certified accountant Elinor Perry stepped bravely out on top of them.

Barefoot Elinor, the managing partner of Pentlands business and tax advisers, had challenged staff and clients to join her in a firewalk in aid of three charities close to her heart.

The event, in the grounds of Mallory Court in Leamington, raised more than £4,140 to be divided between Myton Hospices, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Philippine Community Fund which helps street children get an education.

Elinor, aged 40, said: “Participation was completely optional but I was delighted that more than 40 business people from Coventry and Warwickshire turned up for the training

“I’d told all the staff their participation was voluntary but they all decided to join in. In fact after the first attempt some were inspired enough to do the firewalk twice.”

So how was it for Elinor herself?

“Hot but quite bearable so long as you walked very sensibly.

She added: “Also I knew I had to make it look like a complete breeze because there were 50 people waiting in line behind me.”
