Warwick Folk festival lines up a mix of talent

This year’s Warwick FolkFestival will be a mixture of traditional English folk music and dance with blues, country and rock.

Now in its 34th year, it will be held from July 25-28 and has a programme of more than 130 events, including Canadian and Irish performers.

The main festival events take place in the grounds of Warwick School with concerts in the main marquee and at the nearby Bridge House Theatre, Myton Road.

Performances will also be staged in town centre pubs and streets, including back-room music sessions and free admission to open-air concerts.

Festival director Dick Dixon said: “You can experience pulsating concerts, energetic ceilidhs, and creative workshops, or even intimate bar room sessions – which means there’s plenty to entertain and amuse on the main site and in the town itself.

“Crowds are drawn to Warwick to watch – and sometimes participate in – dance displays, the procession and open-air concerts during the weekend.”

The festival bill includes Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, The Demon Barbers XL, O’Hooley and Tidow, Niall Teague and the Fast Company.

“Jim Moray and the Skulk Ensemble descend on the festival with array of album accolades and a collection of soulful music,

“While traditional Irish band Dervish, renowned for pushing the boundaries of Irish/Celtic music will bring the stage alive with their vibrant rhythms.”
