Warwick Gates woman wins national award for her Get Cooking! business

A Warwick Gates businesswoman has won a national award from Networking Mummies UK Ltd for her small company Get Cooking!

Working from her home in Touchstone Road, Anne Marie Lambert, aims to get people cooking healthy food from scratch and show how to reduce their food waste through effective use of storage and create quick tasty meals with leftovers.

She will be running Canny Cooking! courses in some of the children’s centres in Leamington this year and is currently providing adult group cooking lessons at Oken’s Kitchen at Coten End in Warwick.

Mrs Lambert said: “It was very inspiring being surrounded by other small business owners and listening to their experiences and realise we all do it and work hard because we are passionate about what we do.

The support I have received since the awards has been overwhelming and also reassuring that what I am doing is the right thing.

Since 2009, Mrs Lambert has taught people to cook in their homes, at schools and children’s centres by drawing from her experience of 25 years in the catering industry.

She grows her own fruit and vegetables at her allotment and uses them in her demonstrations and recipes whenever she can.

She also offers private or group party cooking lessons .

She said: “Cooking brings so much more than food to the table, it can give you a boost of self confidence that can spill into other parts of your life.

“I was brought up in a household where my mum used to make meals out of thin air and had a knack of stretching a roast out until the boiled bones ended in the dog bowl at my nana’s house.

“This is a skill many people seem to lack, not just those on limited budgets.”
