Warwick man aiming for plenty of strikes in ten-pin bowling challenge dedicated to daughter

Derek Reynolds will be attempting to score 2015 pins from 15 frames at Tenpin Bolwing in Leamington next Friday (November 6) and is appealing for people to donate to his campaign to help raise £2,015 for the charity Jack’s Rainbow.

Mr Reynolds, who lives with his partner Liz and their two sons Jack and Henry in Stratford, is fundraising in memory of his daughter Ruby, who died shortly after she was born in 2010.

He said: “I love this campaign because you will be able to see exactly what the money donated has been used for, and hopefully it will help bereaved families for years to come.

“I feel an affinity with this charity as the little boy it is named after sadly died the very day after we lost Ruby, and also our little boy is called Jack.”

The overall aim of Jack’s Rainbow’s current campaign is to raise £25,000 to buy a caravan where bereaved families can go for a free holiday, and cover the first year’s running costs at the Haven site in Cornwall.

Mr Reynolds said: ”The site where the van will be is in Perranporth, Cornwall, which is somewhere I am very familiar with from previous holidays and cricket tours.”

People can guess how many pins Mr Reynolds will score with the chance to win a £40 meal voucher for Cox’s Yard in Stratford and a bottle of champagne donated by Warwick Hilton.

Mr Reynolds is also running a ten-pin competition for teams of four at Leamington on Tuesday November 10.
