Warwick Pancakes...running a week late

Adults were given a go in Warwick’s belated - but much loved - pancake races in Market Place on Tuesday.

New town crier Michael Reddy borrowed a bell to ring-in the grown-ups before setting off 20 school teams rejoicing in names like the Westgate Whizzers and Flippin’ Marvellous.

Town mayor Moira-Ann Grainger and Sarah Wrist from Tesco presented prizes to winners from both Westgate’s junior and infants classes, who had perhaps been getting in some running practice in their new sports arena.

Staff at the re-named Globe restaurant won the adult race before serving up hot pancakes to onlookers. Workers at nearby Thomas Lloyd’s pub also did their bit by supplying hot coffee. The annual event is organised by members of Warwick Rotary.
