Warwick Racecourse’s last flat racing day

The final day of flat racing at Warwick Racebcourse.

The course is moving to an all-jumps programme next year with the aim of becoming one of the leading small jumps courses in the UK. The last flat racing day ended with the 4.50 race which was won by Louis Vee, ridden by Luke Morris and trained by Worcestershire-based handler Roy Brotherton.

Despite the course being hit by the rain that affected the rest of the UK, racegoers spirits were not dampened as a large crowd enjoyed the day which included “In the Jungle” themed activities.

Huw Williams, general manager at Warwick Racecourse, said: “Everyone is really excited about the move to an all-jumps calendar and we believe it offers Warwick a viable and exciting future. We presented the owners and jockeys with a memento of the occasion. Although we were not blessed with the best of weather, the crowd on the day seemed to really enjoy their day.”
