Warwick ready for ‘buzzing’ weekend

WARWICK will come alive this weekend with music, markets and parties set to fill the streets.

Already the town has enjoyed summer weekends of the Warwick Carnival, Rotary Thai Festival, Concerts at the Castle, and the Lions Beer Festival.

But this weekend the biggest event on the town’s calendar, Warwick Folk Festival, will bring people from around the world to fill the grounds of Warwick School, as well as venues, streets and squares throughout the town.

Alongside the festival will be the annual Smith Street party hosted by street traders which takes place tomorrow (Saturday).

On the street there will be craft stalls, music and dancing and a lively atmosphere.

In Market Place the popular Farmers Market will return on Saturday from 9am to 4pm, in which farmers from the surrounding area bring their fresh produce.

Town centre manager Matthew Caddick said: “Warwick will be buzzing this weekend with an impressive line-up on the Folk Festival site, free concerts in the square, a street party in Smith Street and performances throughout the town centre. The Farmers’ Market will provides another strong attraction.”

Festival programmes are available free from various shops and pubs around the town as well as the tourist information office in the old Courthouse.
