Pupils read the questions on-screen and then select their answer from a range of multiple choice options.

Each correct answer moves a student’s car around a virtual racetrack enabling teachers to see instantly who has understood a question.

The handsets feedback to students if they got the answer right or wrong, and what to do next time to get the answer right.

Jon Chambers from the Friends of Myton School formally presented the handsets to Head of Maths, Adam Ealden.

The first group to try out the handsets was a class of 11 and 12-year-old mathematicians.

Enthused by the new technology one student said: “I always put my hand up if I know the answer, but you don’t always get picked to answer - this way I get to answer every single question.”

The Friends are fundraising to buy another set of handsets.
