Warwick streets to be decorated for St George

A parade will set off in Smith Street at 11am, going through the town centre to Market Place where St Mary’s Choir will lead patriotic songs to open the afternoon of entertainment.

Andy Clarke, the district commissioner for Warwick Scouting, said: “We’re looking forward to combining our annual St George’s Day parade with this exciting town event.

“Scouts have a long tradition of celebrating St George and the values he represents and this year is going to be great”.

There will also be medieval re-enactments, morris dancing, reptiles and birds of prey, a climbing wall and even an army tank.

The Mayor of Warwick Cllr Michael Kinson said: “There’s a strong programme of entertainment planned and I’m confident that both residents and visitors will enjoy a fulfilling and memorable day out in Warwick.”

Free art workshops are also taking place at St John’s Museum on April 18 and 19 to help create big a dragon for the parade, which children can help carry.
