Warwick Victorian night

A Santa’s grotto in the museum, beautiful songs from St Mary’s choir and dancing and comedy throughout the night signalled Warwick’s popular Victorian night which saw the town crammed with people last Thursday.

Craft, charity and food stalls wound from the square right down Swan Street and back up Market Street as the excitement built from 5pm until the big Christmas lights switch-on at 7pm.

Town mayor Moira-Ann Grainger, flanked by BBC Coventry and Warwickshire presenters, performed the honours with a countdown “rung-in” by town crier Graham Sutherland.

The ever-popular event is organised by the Chamber of Trade and town and district council with shopkeepers donning Victorian costumes and this year competing for the best dressed festive window display. Pubs and restaurants in the town were full to bursting.
