Warwick’s aid for Nepal already on site

Rotarians across the county have been quick to respond to the unfolding disaster in Nepal where the death toll could reach 10,000 according to the latest reports.

In Warwick members immediately sent out a £590 Shelterbox containing a tent for ten people plus cooking equipment, blankets, solar lamps, water and other essentials.

Other clubs in Nuneaton, where the Ghurkas are based, have already raised more than £2,000.

Jackie Crampton, president of Warwick Rotary, said: “Last Saturday were were able to get a licence to collect in Market Place and raised £330 towards another of these vital Shelterboxes, provided by our partners in Rotary International.”

* At their annual evening of International Understanding, Warwick Rotarians invited missionary volunteer David Gallagher to talk about his year with the Turkana tribe in Kenya where he helped build a school and medical centre.
