Warwick’s Great Fire and what happened next

The Great Fire of Warwick and its immediate aftermath will be the subject of a talk at the County Record Office at 2pm on Saturday (February 7).

Dr Gillian White will retell the story of the fire, which broke out on September 5, 1694, and devastated the middle of Warwick.

She said: “The town’s leaders gathered to bring relief to the people and then, as the crisis passed, began to rebuild Warwick to be one of the most modern and elegant towns in the Midlands.”
