Warwick’s own remembrance poppies

Pupils at Westgate Primary School in Warwick have been causing quite a stir with their display of 174 hand-made clay poppies in memory of those who died in the the First World War.

Inspired by the poppies outside the Tower of London, every four to 11-year-old in the school modelled one poppy and painted it before adding their name and planting it in front of the school in Bowling Green Street.

Head teacher Lynne Daniels said: “The poppies have been very well received by our local community and we are very proud of our installation.”
