Two new workshops are being held at the County Record Office in Warwick to help family tree hunters trace long-lost relatives.

The increasingly popularity of The Generation Game - thanks to programmes like Who Do You Think You Are? has really boosted interest in local research.

Heritage and culture officer Louise Jennings said: “More family history websites are coming online all the time.

“The first of our workshops from 9.15am until 12.15pm next Saturday (Jan 24) will guide people through some of the new sources available and develop research skills.

“The second, on January 26, starts at 10.30am and is for absolute beginners and will use resources already available at the Record Office, including parish registers, census records and some online sites.”

The first session is entitled What’s On The Internet for Family History and costs £12. The second, Family History for Absolute Beginners, is just £5.

But places are restricted and must be booked in advance.
