Wellies and bell bottoms at charity’s festival stall

ANIMAL charity Blue Cross will be getting into the 1970s spirit when it opens its first stall at Leamington Peace Festival this year.

The charity, which has an animal adoption centre in Leamington and shops in Leamington and Warwick, will be selling vintage clothes and vinyl, second-hand CDs and a range of wellies at the festival on the weekend of June 18 and 19.

Children visiting the stall can meet Blue Cross mascot Barney the giant dog, play games and have their faces painted with animal designs, and receive free information about pet care.

Mrs Shannon urged visitors to donate clothes, especially 1970s and vintage items, to the charity’s Regent Street shop in the days leading up to the festival.

Leamington shop manager Dorina Shannon said: “We’re really excited about our first visit to the Peace Festival and would love as many people as possible to come and find out more about the work of The Blue Cross helping sick and homeless pets.

“You might even pick up a fantastic vintage outfit to wear at any other festivals you’re going to this summer.”
