Whitnash children get a taste of Anglo Saxon life at Warwick museum
Pupils at St Margaret’s Primary School in Whitnash took on the guises of archeologists and Anglo Saxons during a recent visit to Priory House in Warwick.
They conducted an indoor ‘excavation’ and examined real artefacts from the Anglo Saxon period, reconstructed some pottery items, created their own Anglo Saxon-style brooches and decorated them with their own unique patterns. The children were also told tales from the Old English epic poem Beowulf - widely considered to be one of the most important works of Anglo-Saxon literature - while wearing their brooches and sitting around a campfire.
