Wider roads in blueprint for Whitnash future

WIDER roads, new pubs and community centres and homes for people living alone are among ideas mooted for a blueprint for Whitnash’s future.

Whitnash Town Council last week discussed the creation of a new neighbourhood plan, which will shape future building in the town.

Calling for the plan to be up and running by summer 2013, Cllr André Davis said that with parking on verges and footpaths around the town a problem, wider roads might solve the problem and make access for emergency vehicles easier in new streets.

He added that a 30 per cent rise in the need for homes for elderly people living alone had been predicted, there was a need to cater for the town’s ageing population, and added the plan should ensure there was provision for renewable energy and ensure residents’ wishes were respected as part of the Government’s localism bill.

Cllr Judy Falp said Whitnash’s history should act as a benchmark for new development.
