Witness appeal after Leamington crash leaves four injured

A 24-year-old driver had to be cut free from a blue Mazda MX 5 after his car collided with a silver VW golf near Mallory Park Hotel on Sunday April 12.

He was given emergency treatment for serious pelvis, ribs and facial injuries before being cut free from the car by fire crews and taken to hospital at around at 12.15pm.

A passenger in the car - a woman aged 25 - suffered serious back injuries and also suspected internal injuries in the collision in which she was also trapped in the car for around 20 minutes.

After being released by emergency services, the woman received further treatment before being transferred to the same hospital.

During the rescue by ambulance and paramedic crews, a woman in her 40s travelling in the second car was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire after suffering rib, arm and leg injuries during the incident.

The man driving the second car, also believed to be in his 40s, suffered shoulder injuries and a two-year-old girl also travelling in the vehicle escaped uninjured.

Both were transferred to the same hospital for further assessment.

Ambulance crews, paramedics and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance all helped in the rescue which was described as seamless.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: “All emergency service personal worked seamlessly together to ensure the patients received the best possible treatment as quickly and safely as possible.”

Warwickshire Police is appealing for help from anyone who saw the incident or saw either car, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision.
