A WORKMAN was injured after being punched in the face in a ‘road rage’ attack in Leamington.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred at the roadworks at the junction of Chapel Street and George Street last Thursday (March 8) at 9.40am.

The workman advised him he could not do that and the man started to become aggressive and punched him in the face, leaving him with a split lip and grazed elbow.

Officers are investigating links to a similar incident at roadworks at the junction with Portland Place East on Wednesday (March 7) at around 4.20pm. The driver of a red saloon drove through barriers on a road closure and verbally threatened a road worker, before driving away.

Anyone who witnessed either incident - in particular the driver behind the red car at the Chapel Street junction - should call police on 415000 ext 4409 or pass on information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
