Woman collapsed during Two Castles run

A woman was checked over by paramedics after collapsing while running in the Two Castles 10k on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called after reports that the woman in her 30s had passed out while running on a stretch of the route near Leek Wootton just after 9.30am.

The woman, who has not been named, collapsed along Hill Wootton Road, around half way into the popular road race which started in Warwick at 9am.

She was not taken to hospital but checked over before being supported by St John’s Ambulance volunteers.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.37 to reports of a woman who was said to have passed out while running.

“We arrived at Hill Wootton Road in Hill Wootton and the woman was assessed before being passed into the care of St John’s Ambulance.”

St John’s Ambulance provides heath care and support along the 10k route between Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle each year.
