Woman injured during handbag robbery

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery and has been bailed until Monday 13 April pending further inquiries.

The incident happened in Shrubland Street on Sunday February 8 between 4.30pm and 5pm.

A 35-year-old woman was walking when she was approached from behind and physically assaulted, causing her to fall to the floor.

The offender then stole her beige coloured shoulder bag and shopping bags.

He made off in the direction of East Grove.

The victim sustained major facial and head injuries, requiring treatment at Warwick Hospital.

Anyone with information or who saw the victim’s bags nearby, is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 268 of Sunday February 8.
