Woman injured in Warwick crash

A WOMAN has been seriously injured after a car crash in Warwick this morning.

The incident occurred in Wathen Road at around 9.15am and was attended by an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

Senior paramedic officer Martyn Scott said: “Crews arrived to find a car that had left the road and been in a serious collision with a tree. The car had suffered substantial damage.

“The driver of the car, a woman believed to be in her late 20s, suffered serious multiple leg injuries in the crash. The woman was out of the car when crews arrived and was being helped by members of the public.

“She received emergency treatment at the scene, received pain relief and her condition was stabilised.”

She was then immobilised and airlifted to the University Hospital Coventry for further emergency treatment.

“Considering the damage to the vehicle, the woman is fortunate not to have suffered more serious or even fatal injuries,” added Mr Scott.
