Woman rushed to hospital after car veered into brook

The car left travelled down a steep embankment off Hambridge Road before crossing the shallow brook and coming to a stop on the opposite side of the bank at around 10.20pm.

A female passenger, believed to be in her late teens or early 20s, was rescued by fire crews before being treated for spinal and pelvic injuries and a fractured leg by paramedics.

She was then taken on a spinal board to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency treatment

The driver, a man in his 20s, was not injured and left with police as the passenger was rushed to hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The car had left the road, travelled down a steep embankment before coming to rest on the opposite side of the bank of a shallow and slow moving brook approximately 12 feet across.

“The woman was immobilised with a neck collar, spinal board and splint before being carried up the embankment to the awaiting ambulance.”
