Woman seriously injured in three car crash near Wellesbourne

A DRIVER was seriously injured after being involved in a three-car crash near Wellesbourne yesterday (Monday).

Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance rushed to the scene on the A429, just outside Wellesbourne at around 9.10am to find three cars that had been in a serious collision - on of which had rolled onto its roof.

The driver of a grey VW Passatt, a 47-year-old woman, had suffered a serious hand and arm injury. She had managed to get herself out of the car before ambulance crews arrived and on their arrival, she was given emergency treatment and taken by air ambulance to University Hospital in Coventry.

A man in his 60s and another man in his 40s who had been travelling in the other two cars - a silver Ford Mondeo, which was waiting to turn right, a silver VW Golf - both suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

The A429 was closed to traffic until early afternoon while collision examiners attended the scene and for recovery of the vehicles.

Police officers would like to hear from anyone who was travelling in either direction on the road at the time and who saw any of the described cars before to the collision, or who witnessed the incident itself.
