Work starts on flood alleviation scheme in Cubbington

Work has started on a new flood alleviation scheme in Cubbington which will protect 50 properties.
The Flood Alleviation Scheme for Cubbington was officially unveiled on Friday. Parish Council Chairman Theresa Saul holds the spade while looking on are: Dist. Cllr. Norman Pratt, Cllr. Michael Coker (health and community safty portfolio holder for WDC),  MP Jeremy Wright, Nicholas McPhillips (joint M.D. of McPhillips, Wellington), Warwick District Council Chairman Cllr Richard Davies, Reg Smith and Malcolm Storer (both from Cubbington flood forum).

A floodwater catchment area is being constructed above Mill Lane from where the water will be piped under agricultural land before passing under Welsh Road near Thwaites and discharging into the Pingle Brook. The publicly funded scheme was officially launched by Jeremy Wright MP and Warwick District Council chairman Cllr Richard Davies.
