Yarn bombing hits Warwickshire in colourful fundraiser for Africa

Trees in Stratford will be covered from branch to trunk in more than 1,000 colourful squares knitted by women in Kwa-ZuluNatal as part of an ongoing project with charity, Goodwill and Growth for Africa.

Director Sarah Hodgson, who lives and works in Warwick, said next year, the squares will be made into blankets for African families.

The trees will be decorated with help from Andy Waterworth from AWB Builders in Hatton.

Sarah said: “We’re so grateful to Andy to offer to help us out because it’ll mean we can complete the yarn bombing in a few hours and it will look spectacular.

“It will offer an opportunity for the public to buy one or more multi-coloured crocheted squares as a Christmas tribute to a loved one.”

Money will be raised during the weeks up to Christmas by selling squares for £5.
