In only her third fight, Yeomans dominated the contest, forcing her more experienced opponent to take a standing count in the second round.

She boxed well behind her jab in the third and goes on to face Academy Luton’s Jem Campbell in the 69kg final at Bethnal Green tomorrow.

“It’s a 50-50 fight,” admitted her coach Ollie O’Neill ahead of the final. “But I’ve got confidence in Jade. She puts the work in and is gaining the benefits.”

Meanwhile, Cleary’s Gym’s Lewis Williams is the new CYP Midlands heavyweight champion after beating last year’s Tri-Nations champion Coree Clarke (Warley).

After weighing in at 11am, Williams had to wait until 8.30pm for his bout, sitting through 25 bouts.

However, he handled the pressure incredibly well and used his jab to keep Clarke at long range on his way to a comfortable win.

The 16-year-old now moves on to the nationals which take place next weekend.

There was disappointment for Isabel Madden, however, with the recent Cleary’s recruit failing to get the decision in the National semi-finals against Oakmead’s Hayley Forbes.

“She’s probably gutted at the moment,” said coach Edwin Cleary following the bouts at Watford Leisure Centre.

“But once she sits down she’ll realise what she’s achieved; boxing to a national semi-finals in her first-ever championships.”
