The session will use original maps from the office’s collections, many of which are illustrated. It will also cover how to find and order these maps.

A spokesperson for the County Record Services said: “Maps were made for many different reasons; to show ownership, land use, or even to show sewage and hygiene facilities. Local historian Christine Hodgetts will show you how you can chart changes in an area over time, how you can find out who owned and lived on a particular piece of land, how you can determine what a piece of land was used for and how much it was worth.” The workshop runs from 10am–1pm.

Tickets cost £12 and must be booked in advance by calling the County Record Office on 738959.
