Youth arrested in connection with canalside robbery

POLICE in Leamington have arrested and charged a 17 year old with the theft of a mobile phone.

The youth is due to appear before magistrates in Leamington today (Friday 13 April).

The charge relates to an incident on Wednesday (April 11) in which a man walking along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal near Emscote Road bridge was approached and robbed of his phone by two men.

A second man, also aged 17 years, was also arrested nearby. He has been questioned in relation to the theft and has been bailed pending further police enquiries.

A third youth, aged 16 years, was arrested early today (Friday April 13). He is also being questioned in connection with canalside robberies in the Leamington area.
