This is every winner of the Great British Bake Off over its 10 year history

In the closest race to the crown of Great British Baker 2020, Edinburgh student Peter Sawkins and Hampshire dad Dave Friday battled it out in a bromance-filled finale.

Third place went to Laura, a 31-year-old Digital Manager from Kent.

But who has won GBBO in the past and where are they now? Here’s a full list of the winners since 2010.

Winner 2020 - Peter Sawkins

Series 11 culminated in a two-man race between Dave and Peter, both having excelled throughout the previous 10 weeks.

However, Peter proved triumphant with a narrow win which judge Paul Holywood said came down to “how many flakes in a puff pastry”.

Peter, 20, a finance and accounting student at Edinburgh University joked he had been a ‘Bake Off nerd’ since the third year of the show when fellow Scot - James Morton - came second place.

Peter received a mixed response from the judges on his final bake - the showstopper.

While his Bonkers Bake Off Bubble Cake dessert tower was ‘heavenly’ in some parts, Paul Holywood described his checkerboard biscuits as ‘stodgy’.

However, his signature bake - custard slices - proved a winner as he paid homage to Scotland with a cranachan theme of baked oats and raspberries.

The youngest winner ever, Peter admitted: “I wanted this a lot. When I was 12, I was watching repeats of Bake Off back to back.

“It got me into baking big time. I think 12-year-old Peter would be in awe, and just the most excited giddy kid. I am that excited giddy kid right now.”

2019 Series 10 - David Atherton

The nurse who originally trained in art and design wowed the judges each week with his precision and detail in 2019, despite never once being crowned Star Baker.

Originally a reserve for the show, he was called in to take part last minute.

His healthier bakes were a frequent feature and he has gone on to write columns for the Guardian on food for fitness, as well as releasing his cook book My First Cookbook in August 2020.
