At the Dearne Valley Field Tournament in Yorkshire, Folkard shot 354 for the unmarked distances on the day one course and 356 for the marked distances on day two to give her a combined total of 710 points.

That put her well ahead of Caroline Baldry who was second with 612 points and Michelle Kiddy (568pts).

It also gave Folkard a final qualifying score of 578 for this year’s international field archery events.

On this basis, Folkard is hoping to be selected for the World Games to be held in Colombia at the end of July.

Folkard earned the GB ladies’ recurve place in the Games when she won the bronze medal at last year’s World Field Archery Championships.

Last weekend Folkard turned to target archery, in which she is currently ranked first in Great Britain, third in Europe and 14th in the world.

As usual, the Meriden FITA Star tournament attracted many top GB archers.

Folkard shot consistently well throughout to finish on 1,312 points for the ladies’ FITA round of 12 dozen arrows over four distances.

That put her a significant distance clear of Trent Valley’s Rebecca Martin (1,258pts) and Brent Valley’s Jeanetta Braun (1,257pts).

Also shooting from Leamington were recurve Brian Tustin (1,113), and compounds Chris Earp (1,305), Jon Nixon (1,275) and Margaret Nixon (1,238).
