Andrews puts in a great shift to clinch Mad Dash second place

Runners set off at the start of the Moreton Morell Mad Dash 10k.

This was despite arriving at the Moreton Morrell College-based event straight from a night shift at work.

The race, which took in two laps of the Warwickshire countryside via Ashorne, was won by Carl Allwood (Sutton in Ashfield) who took advantage of almost ideal conditions to post an excellent time of 1:13:09.

Lindsay Judge was the first lady home in 1:25:54.

Leamington C&AC’s Ben Rajan, looking stronger and more comfortable on the road than cross country, was sixth in 1:20:57.

Clubmate Dave Potter gained confidence for an imminent marathon by winning the male 60 age group, crossing the line eighth in 1:22:46.

Still on her drive towards fitness after the birth of her child, Natalie Bhangal broke the 90-minute barrier with a time of 1.29:25 for 18th overall and fourth lady.

For Kenilworth, Tom Williams finished 15th in 1:28:17, with Sophie Cookson (1:56:05) 66th and Laurence Copeland (2:02:06) 72nd.

Choosing the one-lap 10k option, Kenilworth Runners’ Laura Pettifer was pleased with her 14th position overall (3rd lady) in 43:49.

Debbie Streets finished 37th and second LV35 in a new personal best time of 49:20.

The race was won by Ben Evans in 35:16, while the ladies’ race was won by formerKenilworth Runner Marie Voice, now running for BRAT, in 40:11.

Voice’s time was a women’s course record, knocking 25 seconds off the previous mark.

 Thirteen Kenilworth Runners finished the 254th Coventry parkrun on Saturday.

First home was Kev Hope in an excellent time of 18:13 for fourth position, followed by Clive Pearce (19th in 19:40).

Courtney Thornberry was the first Kenilworth lady home in 70th position overall and second lady in a time of 22:35.
