ATHLETICS: Unbeaten Copson wins 19th cross country gold medal

Incredible athlete Angela Copson of Rugby & Northampton AC maintained her unbeaten cross country record when she claimed victory in the British Masters Championships held in Bath on Sunday.

Competing in the over 65s race, Copson covered the 6k course in 24 minutes 31 seconds to win her seventh age group title in this competition - and has never been defeated in any British, European, World, or International Cross country race bringing her gold medal tally to 19.

Running in the combined ladies race with men over 65, Copson had a clear margin of victory in her category of more than a minute over close rival Ros Tabor to finish 25th overall.

This was Copson’s 35th BMAF title on all surfaces in W60 and W65 events and the masters international athlete, who has broken 24 World records or bests during her career, now aims for the London Marathon,a distance in which she currently holds the W65 UK record of 3hrs 17mins 10secs.
