Andrea Atzeni was the jockey to follow at the last meeting and he went one better this time with three winners, all for different trainers.

He started the ball rolling with One Chance in the day’s most valuable race, the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Fillies Stakes. Tim Pitt’s filly was strongly supported in the betting market from 3-1 to 9-4 to improve on her debut sixth at Newmarket and she did it in some style, leading all the way.

It was a much closer affair for his second winner, Kohlaan, as Roger Varian’s gelding prevailed by just a neck from Order Of Service when taking the mile handicap at 4-1.

Atzeni’s third came courtesy of Astrum, who was following up his course win last month when comfortably beating Nateeja to give in-form trainer Rod Millman another success.

Apprentice jockeys took centre stage in the opening race over a mile and it was Evergreen Forest, ridden by Nora Looby, who came through to collar Balmoral Castle inside the final furlong.

One for the notebook is top-weight Duke Of Destiny, who was fancied to step up on his second to Teen Ager at Kempton Park last time out, but stumbled five furlongs out before finishing strongly for fourth place.

Balatina and Little Eli set a blistering pace in the five furlong handicap for three-year-olds, but neither could resist the finishing kick of Shirley’s Pride.

The 5-1 shot ran on well under Andrew Mullen to comfortably beat Batchworth Lady, ridden by Kieren Fallon, who went on to score aboard 13-8 favourite Pleasure Boat in the Big Local App Warwick Maiden Stakes.
