BBC hoping to click for international tournament

Aside from the 11 international teams coming from Barbados, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Spain and Finland, including the current world champions, the Stockholm Saints, there are also five British teams, including one from the BBC technology series BBC Click.

Team GB, Team England, Cornwall Segway and Segway Events complete the entrants, with The Gadget Show’s Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams also on hand to follow the action.

Gates open at noon and the action on the pitch will be preceded by a performance from Impact Dance Studio, their first since appearing at the London O2 Arena for the Street Dance International.

Segway UK founder Mark Weller, who now lives in Warwick, said the dance troupe was the perfect fit for the tournament.

“We’re pleased Impact could join us for the day,” said Weller.

“Not simply because they’re an incredibly talented team of dancers, but because they share a common factor - they take a fair approach to recruiting new members, no matter what their level of ability or amount of experience.”

Admission to the tournament is free with a mini fun fair, face painting, Segway rides and shopping also on offer.

Special guest presenters Jason Moss and ‘Face of British Polo’ Karl Ude-Martinez will be taking to their microphones to keep spectators informed as the action unfolds on the pitches.
