Boat Club’s Wheildon has a spring in her step

Warwick Boat Club’s spring tour to Bournemouth got off to a rather damp start with their first two matches being cancelled due to rain.

Boat Club did eventually get on to the greens, with three matches of six rinks over three days at Blandford, Bournemouth Electric and Moordown Bowling Clubs.

The highlight was a 25-18 win for ladies’ captain Mary Wheildon’s rink of John Labrum, Jill Minett and Graham Ford over Bournemouth and District Area president Rob Burchell.

A satisfactory week was ended with Boat Club’s ladies recording a 51-37 win in a triples friendly at Southam.

Wheildon beat Southam’s Heather Treadgold 15-8 for the highest wining rink.

Southam did, however, fare better against WCC Staff, winning their mixed triples match 59-50.
