After the duo’s impressive wins on the Assembly card on December 5, the publication contacted the gym last week in readiness for an article featuring fighters to look out for in 2016.

Coach Edwin Cleary said the prospect of the two teenagers being earmarked as ones to watch was a real feather in the cap for the gym, and for the boxers, themselves.

“To get contacted by Boxing News is a fantastic achievement for both lads and the gym,” said Cleary.

“It will focus them both for the forthcoming season.

“It’s also a great boost for everyone at the gym going into 2016.

“Despite being a smalltown club, Cleary’s boxers will be competing in every major championship before the end of this season.”

And despite Williams and Quartermaine enjoying the limelight, Cleary believes there is a wealth of talent at the club ready to follow in their footsteps.

“We have our eyes on two or three that should, over the next 12 months, push on and catch Danny and Lewis up.

“We believe this is the best group of young boxers we’ve ever had at Clearys.

“There’s a real buzz in the gym, a great unity and belief with all the boxers.”

Cleary’s Gym is open six days a week and offers classes for beginners, young and old, females and active boxers.
