End of the road for Jephcott
Michael Jephcott suffered a narrow defeat to Dagenham’s Marvid Lombi in the 57kg semi-final of the ABA Novices’ Championships at Great Barr Leisure Centre.
The Cleary’s ABC boxer was just a point down on all five judges’ cards, with Edwin Cleary believing his charge paid the price for his all-action style.
“Lombi had the cleaner work and maybe made it easy for the judges to see scoring blows,” said Cleary.
Jephcott, who has dropped down from 120kg, will defend his Midlands belt on Cleary’s ABC’s Assembly show next Friday before hanging up his gloves for good.
