Jephcott secured a last-four place after opponent Zeeshan Tahir (Lockwell Ring) was disqualified in the third round of their 57kg fight at Great Barr Leisure Centre in Birmingham.

The Cleary’s ABC fighter will go on to fight for a final place on November 30 and Edwin Cleary said there is no doubt Jephcott is one of the best fighters at his weight in the country.

“He’s accomplished so much over the last two years,” said Cleary. “No matter what happens now he’s a champion.”

Jephcott took time to get into his stride against Tahir, ramping up the pressure in the second round and forcing Tahir to pick up two warnings for holding.

The 23-year-old flew out of his corner in the final round and his relentless pressure forced Tahir to again hold on, much to the disapleasure of the referee who disqualified him.

Meanwhile, Cleary’s ABC’s December 13 show at The Assembly is starting to take shape, with Wali Jan Khan’s third bout against Sheffield-based Majibur Ali now confirmed.

Hot prospect Danny Quartermaine will also be on the bill along with Myles Vale and Sean Greenfield, who are making their first appearance off the season.
