Leamington were again left to bemoan missed chances and their inability to capitalise on a good start to a game when they lost 1-0 at struggling Tiverton on Saturday.

This leaves Brakes sitting 16th in the table with just two wins from their opening ten fixtures but Holleran feels his side can turn things around.

“It’s happening too often where we have the better start and are controlling the game but end up getting nothing,” he said.

“I’ve given the players a short-term target this week to not dwell too much on what has happened or to think too far ahead.

“We’ve got two games coming up in four days and if we focus correctly and show a bit more in our opponents box hopefully we can get back on track.”

Holleran admitted the result at Tiverton was a body blow and said he could make changes to his starting line-up if results do not pick up soon.

But he still believes his side are good enough to do well in the league.

Leamington’s games at Halesowen on Saturday and Bedford on Tuesday are two of only three league fixtures taking place in the next four days and Holleran thinks this will provide the perfect opportunity to climb the table.

He said: “The fans can rest assured we are working really hard.

“Everyone is really hurting at the moment and we want to get it right.

“It’s a great club which is so well supported and that gives you the incentive to get it right and to go again.”
