Leamington schoolgirl Freya Eaton has been selected for the GB Children’s Ski Team.
Eaton, 12, has been skiing on the race circuit for three years and was selected to join the elite performance team after impressing in races in Italy earlier in the year.
Eaton, who skies for Ski Team Telford, trains in Manchester at weekends and at the club’s European base in Alpbach, Austria during the winter.
The Princethorpe pupil’s first race for the GB team will in Abertone, Italy, where she will compete against skiiers from 20 other European countries.
Eaton will take part in the slalom and giant slalom before travelling to the Alps for the British Championships in Meribel in early April.
Eaton said: “This is a fantastic opportunity and I am really excited about my first race representing GB.
“It’s a great honour to represent your country but I do realise this is just another step of a really long journey to be a ski racer.
“I have an older brother who also races and I have been able to follow in his steps which has helped push me along.”
