Chudasama grabs hat-trick as Khalsa thrash North Stafford

Back to full strength, Khalsa won an early short corner which Aaron Nagra dispatched into the top corner to open the scoring.

Gurminder Ghattaura’s superb reverse-stick strike into the bottom corner made it 2-0 before Anit Chudasama rounded the keeper to add a third with less than ten minutes played.

Two soft goals allowed North Stafford back into the game and it needed an outstanding save from keeper Elliot Rider to deny the Staffordshire side an equaliser before Khalsa regained their grip on the game.

Alex Idoine added a fourth after a clever one-two with Sean Robinson and Ghattaura doubled his tally from the penalty spot with a precise flick into the side netting.

Chudasama then made it 6-2, beating two defenders on the line after the initial shot from Jas Singh was saved.

North Stafford sat deeper after the break and Chudasama completed his hat-trick before Savhan Lall latched on to a perfectly weighted pass from Scott Angliss to make it 8-2.

The final goal was the pick, with Stuart Gooderham producing some tremendous stick work from his own half and a 60-yard sprint before rounding the keeper to slot home.

Khalsa 2nds suffered a 4-1 defeat to Birmingham University in the Midlands Premier after finding themselves on the receiving end of a couple of contentious refereeing decisions.

Navdeep Hayer opened the scoring for Khalsa, who then lost Rev Hayer to a calf muscle strain.

Lacking any replacements, Khalsa were forced to continue with ten men and they suffered a further setback when the students converted a controversially awarded penalty.

Khalsa also felt the referee should have spotted an infringement in the build up to Birmingham’s second and, left to chase the game, they conceded twice more.

Khalsa 3rds lost 7-0 at home to Warwick University 3rds in Midlands Division One.
