Australian Barton is true all-rounder

Barton was an integral member of Wellesbourne’s first team which remained unbeaten in the Premier Division of the Cotswold Hills League during the month.

Useful with both bat and ball, Barton took three for 27, three for 32, one for 21, two for none and two for 25 during the month and scored 51 against Stratford 3rds, 35 not out against Stratford Bards and 63 not out against Elmley Castle.

Each month, the district’s clubs are invited to email in their Man of the Month nomination, together with brief details as to why the player has been chosen, to Warwickshire chartered surveyors and estate agents Hawkesford, who are giving away six cricket balls to the club whose nomination is selected.

James Hawkesford, managing director of the family-run estate agency, which has offices in Leamington and Warwick, said: “We have some very keen sports people at the firm who wanted to recognise sporting achievement, so we decided this year to support local cricket.”
