Kenilworth’s last-wicket pair defy Bablake

WARWICKSHIRE LEAGUE: Kenilworth Town’s last pair of Geoff Edmunds and Pete Alty batted out the last six overs to deny Bablake Old Boys victory in their Premier Division encounter.

After opener Tony Bristow had blasted 176 in Bablake’s score of 292 for seven, Kenilworth looked to be heading for defeat in the face of fine bowling from Joshua De Souza (5-35).

However, Edmunds and Alty remained steadfast to frustrate Bablake as The Town closed on 126 for nine.

However, an unbeaten 27 from Imran helped them recover to 138 all out.

The Warwick batsmen found life equally tough as they slumped to four for four with Sikandar, who went on to claim five for 21, doing most of the early damage.

Leamington Khalsa’s Division Five promotion push suffered another setback with a home defeat to Wythall.

After winning the toss, captain Indy Kalsi decided to field first in bowler-friendly conditions.

An early breakthrough by Kalsi put the home side on the back foot and a combination of tight bowling from Tejpal Dulay (2-38) and Ashu Sharma (2-27) and good fielding restricted Wythall to 183 for nine off their 50 overs.
