Relegation confirmed for Kenilworth

A much-weakened Kenilworth side fielded first and restricted Bedworth to 197 all out, battling back well after Friswell (68) and Pickering (56) put on 77 for the second wicket.

Chris Prophet turned out to be the unlikely star with the ball, snapping up a fine five for 45.

Kenilworth reached 74 for three in no time with Tom Booker hitting five boundaries and two sixes in his 48.

However, after he fell, the remainder of the batting crumbled at the hands of the twin spin attack of Jakeman (3-8) and Peacock (5-12), with the last seven wickets falling for tens runs as Kenilworth were bowled out for 84.

Kenilworth’s Sunday side brought the curtain down on the 2015 season with a 24-run friendly home defeat at the hands of neighbours Leek Wootton.

Wootton number three Stuart Budd stroked a fine 67 before becoming one of Sam Leach’s three victims, while Ian Cox hit 43 as the visitors were bowled out for 190 in the 36th over.

Thirteen-year-old Matthew Dadswell claimed a senior best of two for five.

Opener Chris Prophet continued his good form with a fine 62 before the hosts slipped to 103 for five.

However, despite a fine 40 not out from Martin McKenna, Kenilworth were to fall short of their target, finishing on 166 for seven.
