Doyle delivers five more records

After a short break to rest a catalogue of injuries, Paddy Doyle resumed his quest to achieve 300 career fitness/endurance records and titles by achieving five strength/fitness records at Stamina’s Gym in Birmingham.

The Balsall Common endurance athlete was given a two-minute rest between each challenge and kicked off with 44 strict squats in a minute carrying a 60lb backpack, breaking the previous Guinness world record by nine.

He then went on to clock up 20 burpees in a minute, also carrying a 60lb backpack to smash their previous mark by five.

The fastest time for ten back-of- the-hand push-ups carrying a 60lb backpack was lowered to 10.03sec, while 13 were achieved in 15.02.

With the backpack still in place, Doyle then finished off with 21 strict squats in 60 seconds, carrying two 25kg dumbbells for good measure.

It means Doyle has now amassed 265 records and titles, of which 165 still stand.

However, despite struggling with the burpees, the veteran still believes there is more to come from him.

The burpess were extra hard,” said Doyle. “You have to clear two lines which must be half of your body height and the top of the backpack was hitting the back of my head which was affecting my balance.

“Each challenge was demanding. However, I do believe I can push my mind and body further.”
