Provided he beats the Guinness World Record of 6 hr 28 min, the Balsall Common athlete will tackle his 350th on December 6 when he attempts a half-marathon speed march carrying a 40lb backpack.

The milestone will see him finish at the Royal British Legion Club in Berkswell, with the former paratrooper then taking on a strength record in front of his loyal supporters.

Dean Gould, president of Registry of World Record Holders, said: “If Paddy is successful he will be the first endurance athlete to go down in history, achieving such a global honour.

“I have no doubt he will succeed.”
