Under sunny skies and on a well-prepared course, the 18-year-old claimed the age group title as well as finishing third overall among the English contingent, who were among 500 skiers from around the world tackling the slopes.

Eaton said: “I was really pleased with my results today.

“I am hoping to put in some more good results this week and ski to the ability I can ski to.”

The action began last Sunday on the Adler piste, with Leamington’s Ollie Weeks taking victory in the giant slalom in the under-14 age group.

The 13-year-old followed that victory up with a second place in the boys’ under-14 slalom.

The championships, organised by National Governing Body Snowsport England, are a key event on the national skiing calendar.

They have provided a platform for the rising stars of skiing, including the likes of Chemmy Alcott and Dave Ryding, who is currently competing on the World Cup circuit.
