Brakes feeling left out as play-off race reaches its climax

The Southern League Premier Division play-off race reaches a dramatic conclusion tomorow with Brakes boss Paul Holleran gutted his side are not involved.

All four play-off spots are still up for grabs, with even Oxford City in second not guaranteed to end the final day in the top five.

Leamington, who will finish the campaign in seventh, still have a part to play as they entertain third-placed Chesham United, but Holleran says it is little consolation after beginning the year in top spot.

“It is bitterly disappointing not to be one of the teams in the shake-up, especially considering where we were at Christmas,” said Holleran.

“But the one thing we can take out of the season is our home form and we want to continue that and finish on a high.”

Tomorrow will be the final game of Lee Steele’s short spell at Brakes with the veteran striker expected to hang up his boots after the game.
