Brentford star Ben Arthur joins long list of sports stars to do Leamington Spa proud, including a former England goalkeeper, an England test cricketer and a former world number one tennis star
Footballer Ben Arthur is the latest Leamington lad or lass to be putting the town on the sporting map.
The town has plenty to offer, as we all know, And that’s certainly been the case over the years when it comes to sport, with many of our very own doing themselves and our great town proud.
Leamington can boast an England goalkeeper, an Ashes cricketer, a record-breaking goalkeeper, a world number one tennis player, two Olympic champions – and now another Premier League footballer.
Arthur was on the bench last weekend for Brentford during their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. He made the switch to London after rising through the ranks at Peterborough United, with a bright footballing future ahead.
That is of course the tip of the iceberg with plenty other stars from Leamington showing what they are made of in a variety of sports.

9. Riccardo Scimeca

10. Jamie Elson
Elson played on the Challenge Tour in 2003, winning once at the Volvo Finnish Open. He played on the top-tier European Tour in 2004, but was unsuccessful and disappeared from both Tours for a number of years. 11. Kelly Sibley
Sibley won the singles, girls doubles and mixed doubles at the UK Junior Championships and has represented England at senior level at the Commonwealth Games, European Championships and World Championships. 12. Jason Pearcey
As a player he was a goalkeeper from 1989 until 2006. He played in the Football League for Mansfield Town, Grimsby Town and Brentford before ending his career in the Conference National with Forest Green Rovers.
